This information is present in the thread like structure called chromosomes. All human biengs have 23 chromosomes. Out of these two chromosomes are the sex chromosome named as X and Y.
Male contain one X and one Y chromosome and female contain two X chromosomes. When Y chromosome fertilises the egg, the egg have one X and one Y chromosome so it will develop into a male. But whe n X chromosome fertilises tge egg, the egg have two X chromosomes and so develop into a female child.
Hence, the sex of an unborn child is determined.
