Explanation:

  • India has unique physiography as it's the oldest and most traditional civilizations of the world on earth. The Indian plate is subdivided into the various physical divisions as  Mountains, plateaus, plains, deserts, coastal islands, and plains.
  • India has lofty mountains in the north, known as Himalayan ranges that are found through the west of Jammu and Kashmir to the Arunachal Himalayas in the east, along with hilly regions of the northeastern territory.
  • The fertile plains of India are divided into the upper, middle, lower and transverse Indo Gangetic plains these stretch from the punjab in the northwest to Bengal lowlands in the east.
  • The plateau lands are divided by the presence of the Satpura ranges in the north and the Vindhya ranges in the south of central India and comprise of elevated table land rich Deccan plateau and northeast to which lies the Chota Nagpur plateau.
  • In the southwest lies the western ghats and east of which lies the eastern ghats and followed by the coastal lands and coastal plains.
  • The islands are found beyond the mainland in the east as the Andaman and Nicobar islands and west as Lakshadweep. The western part of the country lies the great Thar desert.
