It is an ultimate situation where the basic means of livelihood are endangered because of economic factors..

Now factors which were responsible for subsistence crisis in France :-

>> The population of France in 1715 was 23 million and it Rose to 28 million in 1789.

>> As the population increased so the demand for food was also increasing.

>> But the production wasn't enough for all demands.

>> This resulted in the increase of bread which was the stable diet for all basic livelihood.
