The society was understood by Parsons by first looking at it on a basic level. This was done based on the voluntaristic actions of individuals. These actions are based on the structural aspects of the society which is used to create social order. This was established to look into the micro and macro level factors of voluntary aspects.

An American Sociologist Talcott Parsons was one of the most important fundamental functionalists during 1950s. As a functionalist, he was involved with whereby components of society were working for the community. Parsons instituted action theory to combine the thought of civil order with the fundamental and voluntaristic characters of macro and micro constituents. Parsons discusses ideas as a component of our actions. Therefore, he believed that social science necessity considers ends, desires, and goals when studying at actions.
