Polymorphism in lysosomes:
Primary Lysosome: A newly formed lysosome contains hydrolytic enzymes only.
Secondary lysosome: It is formed by fusion of primary lysosome and food vacuole. Digestion of ingested food occurs in it.
Tertiary or residual lysosome: Products of digestion are absorbed into cytoplasm. Undigested food material is present in residual lysosome.
