Heyya!
Rice is water intensive crop. It needs heavy rainfall. The Northwestern part of India receives high rainfall and winters are relatively low.
wheat is grown in the central parts of India due to its requirements for a warm climatic conditions to resume growth. however,it can tolerate cold climate. Rains after sowing will hurt germination.
Hope it helps! : )
