In a social group, a particular set of people come together for a particular cause or project. A family group is formed by nature and as the people who have been joined are of different characteristics, one could learn how to cope up with the society.
In a formal social group, one may not show the true feelings but in the family group, one takes the liberty of showing all the emotions and thereby gets to learn many things. For example, if a person shows anger in the family, he/she will learn how people react to it based on the relationship and age. If it is an elderly person, they will try to pacify the person who is angry. If it a elder brother/sister, then, the anger will be matched with the anger shown. If it is someone younger, then, submissive attitude will be shown.
In India, because of joint family system, children were able to observe different characteristics; handling of such characters; also, the outcome of certain unwanted emotions like, anger. They were able to handle situations in the outside world. As the families are becoming more and more nuclear, the prior knowledge is not available and children are left helpless to handle the emotions on their own. This why, there are lots of tension among school going students and college students.
