The teeths decay or cavities occur because acidic medium is not good for teeths...
After we eat food, if some food is stuck in the mouth, some bacteria act on that food and release some acids like lactic acid.
To neutralise this acid, the toothpastes are basic in nature. Hence, we must brush daily properly so that food will not get stucked and ultimately there will be no tooth decay...

TOOTHPASTE CONTAINS BASES WHICH NEUTRALIZE THE ACID PRESENT IN OUR MOUTH WHICH IS RELEASED BY BACTERIA. ACID IS HARMFUL FOR OUR TEETH.
