■ENERGY FLOW :
☆The movement of energy around an ecosystem by biotic and abiotic means .
☆Ecological pyramids ( food chain) is where a sizable percentage of energy is held , where organisms supply energy source to other organisms and so forth , the top of the chain which then decomposes after death .
■NUTRIENT CYCLE :
☆Nutrient cycle is the movement and exchange of organic and inorganic matter back into the production of matter .
☆Energy flow is unidirectional and non cyclic pathway , whereas the movement of mineral nutrients is cyclic .
☆Oxygen , nitrogen, carbon and hydrogen are needed in large quantities and these are known as macronutients .
☆Trace elements such as phosphorus , sulphur and magnesium are micronutrients.
