Answers
The Indian National Movement, particularly between the two World Wars, acquired a mass character. It mobilised millions of people from various castes and classes to fight against the British colonial rule. Under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, the Congress launched three big mass movements – Non-Cooperation Movement, Civil Disobedience Movement and Quit India Movement – which shook the foundations of the British rule in India. Besides these mass movements, some other movements such as the revolutionary terrorist movement, the peasant movement and the workers’ movement, also played important roles in the Indian struggle for freedom.
