The idea of unity of India is inherent in all its historical and socio-cultural facts as well as in its cultural heritage. India has one Constitution providing guarantees for people belonging to diverse religious, cultures and languages. It covers people belonging to all socio-economic strata.

India possesses varieties of social, economic, geographical conditions. In India there is unity in apparent diversities of race, religion, language, custom etc. The distinctive feature of India in its unity and diversity is also reflected in the social ethos.India is a vast peninsula with a total land area of about 33 million Sq. Kms, and population exceeding 100 crores. Its length from North to South is about 3.200 Kilometers and breadth from East to West is nearly 3,000 Kilometers. Because of its area and population India is generally referred to as a sub-continent.

Hi Friend!

India is a diverse country. This is because people from different castes and creed, social and religious backgrounds reside here. Indians range from the Hindus to the Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists etc. Diversity means that there exists cultural diversity too, in India, our motherland. Since ancient times travellers have come to this great land of ours and have added to its richness by leaving behind their mark. We have inherited many traditions and customs and all these have been intermingled in the due course of time. But this has ultimately brought us closer to each other and led us to understand each other better. So in the history of the world Indians have shown a remarkable unity. It was this unity between the Indians that helped them defeat their enemies and ultimately brought the Britishers to their feet. Ad goes the phrase''United we stand, divided we fall"...
Today we need to restore that unity which has existed within us for so  long and only then can India truly progress in all fields!
