THE IMPURITIES HAVE A MARKED EFFECT ON THE CST OF A PARTIALLY MISCIBLE LIQUID PAIR. SODIUM CHLORIDE IS SOLUBLE ONLY IN WATER AND NOT IN PHENOL. THEREFORE, IT WILL RAISE THE CST OF PHENOL WATER SYSTEM.
