one point is that the mughal emperor Aurangzeb made British nawab of Bangal with gave them direct right to collect revenue and get trading rights

the EEIC came as traders and established their trading post called factories in India this factories where set up in presidency cities of Kolkata Madras and Bombay this Mughal emperor had already become very weak and after Aurangzeb's death the Subadars and zamindars become the ruler of some areas the English East India Company took advantages of this internal conflict they also challenge the French defeated them in the Carnatic war and signed the Treaty of Paris in 1763 this allowed the French to leave in India only for the purpose of trade under the protection of the British in Chandanagor and Pondicherry in course of time the Portuguese does and dense lost their trading rights in India this paved the way for the establishment of the British power in India.
