Discuss the formation of harmonic in stretched string show that in case of stretched string in the first four harmonic are in the ratio of 1:2:3:4

First harmonics in case of a stretched string are:

We see that the ratio of wavelengths are:

2l : l: 2/3l :1/2l

or 1:1/2:1/3:1/4

Now we know  Velocity=frequency x wavelength

here velocity is constant in the string.Therefore the ratio of frequencies will be=1:2:3:4
