As we cannot go back in the time to see what had happened, or how it happened. So, these literally source are only an evidence to tell about the time and contemporary world. Thus, literally source are important for reconstruction of Indian history. We have many textual evidences like Vedas, epics like Mahabharata and Ramayana, arthashastra by chanakya or traveller's account, like indica by megasthenes and many more.
