In any region, the density and distribution is influenced by more than one factor. Take for example North-Eastern region of India. Here several factors are responsible for low density of population. These factors are high rainfall, rough terrain, dense forests and poor quality of soil.

The physical factors that influence the distribution of population are :

\bold\red{Topography}:-

Flat level lands are suitable for agriculture , development of roads and railways and construction of buildings . Hence , plains have maximum concentration of population. On the other hand , plateaus have comparatively less population because of their rough terrain .

\bold\green{Climatic~Conditions}:-

Moderate climatic conditions are favourable while extremes of climate are unfavorable for human habitation . This is why the polar region , which are too cold and the deserts , which are too hot and dry , which support very little population.

\bold\orange{Natural~Vegetation}:-

Dense forest are inaccessible and are therefore , largely uninhabited .

For example , the Amazon and the Congo basins.

\bold\blue{Solis}:-

All ancient civilizations had developed along river valley .

For example. the Indus valley civilization along the River Indus and the Egyptian civilization along the River Nile.
