Conjugation is the process by which one bacterium transfers genetic material to another through direct contact. During conjugation, one bacterium serves as the donor of the genetic material, and the other serves as the recipient. The donor bacterium carries a DNA sequence called the fertility factor, or F-factor.

bacterial conjugation is a mode of Sexual reproduction in bacteria and single cellular organisms. In this process First two individuals come closer and form a bridge know as 'Protoplasmic bridge' than macro nuclear divides and starts disappearing and micro nuclear divides and forms 4 new nucles 3 disappear and one remaining nuclei again divides and forms two types od nuclei one is known as Stationary Nuclei which is non active and second one is know as Active nuclei which is movable. Active nuclei moves to other bacterial nuclei and fuse . Then a new nuclei forms known as Zygotenuclei than both bacteria separates and called as Exconjugant.

Then each Exconjugant's zygonuclei divides and forms 8 new individual
