As the Earth rotates around the Sun, the different hemispheres experience different seasons. This is because of the direction the poles point in. For example, in summer in the northern hemisphere, the northern pole is pointing towards the sun. At the same time, it is winter in the southern hemisphere, as the southern pole is pointing away from the sun. If we reverse it to make it summer in the southern hemisphere, we will find the south pole pointing towards the sun and the north pole away from it.
