The crucial point is in an efficient integration of all business processes with an emphasis put on reporting and business intelligence capabilities important for management. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) provides comprehensive information management for organizations. Even though ERP projects are costly and need several months to be implemented, in the last couple of years many companies have replaced their legacy systems with these new integrated suites. ERP systems employ client/server technology within, mainly, three-tier c/s platforms. This means that a user runs an application on a client computer (first tier) that accesses information from an ERP application (finance, HR, logistics, etc.) which is on application server (second tier). Applications use data from the third tier – data server which is running one or more databases under DBMS. ERP software vendors are rearchitecting their applications to be used over the Internet, through Web-browser interface.
