Pilgrimage is a social process. It is to travel in search of inner peace, serenity or happiness. People belonging to society following any religion have their places of pilgrimage to visit. Pilgrimage is a result of a quest.

The quest for something more than what already exists. Pilgrimage is a journey to a shrine or other location of importance to a person's belief and faith, although sometimes it can be a metaphorical journey into someone's own beliefs. Almost all religions attach spiritual importance to particular places like a place of birth or death of founders or saints.
