Bankim Chandra Chaterjee and Sri Aurobindo preached the theory of spiritual nationalism.

They considered India as a Goddess and asked his followers to worship his/her own motherland.

This theory believed that India is not just a piece of land. It is a living being with feeling and emotions controlled by God.

Sri Aurobindo successfully combined spiritual teachings as a way of patriotism and asked people to sacrifice their lives for their divine motherland India.
