Physical topologies and hardware devices :

i. Flat: It is like a small company that has a few locations. A flat topology design is used in connecting point to point circuits between the locations that formed a loop. If four location is connected to the WAN to the other two location in different country or sates. This can be used in microwave and fiber optics.

ii. Star: this topology has a central location that acts as a hub in the designing system. If there is a failure in one hub occur than it will not affect the other site on the WAN. This hub site is designed with single router of WAN.

iii. Full Mesh: It depends on the every site of WAN router and it is connected to the every location in a wide network area. It becomes expensive when organization grows in size because it needs more WAN circuits.
