Aryans are thought to be Indo-Iranians. With regard to India, the people of North India are considered Aryan. Ancient Vedic literature refers to northern India as the centre of Indo-Aryan culture.
According to the Proto-Indo-Iranian and Proto-Indo-European theories, the ancient Eurasians were thought to be Aryans.
Majority of people in South India are considered to be Dravidians. Their origins may be traced back to the many Dravidian kingdoms or states, which existed in southern parts of India such as Chola, Pandya, Chera, Rashtrakuta, Chalukya etc.

The Aryans were the name of the Indo-Iranian people. It was used by the Indic period of the vedic period in India as an ethnic label for themselves. Towards the end of the 18th century William Jones discovered that Sanskrit is similar to Greek, and the word Aryan cognates its base from Sanskrit. It was therefore postulated that the Ayans lived in an area either in Central Asia or Eastern Europe. Owing to population explosion and desiccation of pasture lands North West India was invaded by Aryans.
Towards the end of 6th century B.C. extensive migrations of Aryans took place towards south west embracing avanti, extending as far as Asmaka and Mulaka in the Godavari, and coming to the east Assam in Odisha was invaded by the Aryans.
On the other hand Dravidians do not depict a distinct race but Dravidians are those who speak Dravidian languages, Tamil, Kannada, Telgu, Malyalam. Most linguistics believed that the Dravidian speaking people were spread throughout the Indian subcontinent before a series of Indo-Aryan migrations. In this view the early Indus Valley Civilization has been identified to be Dravidian and cultural and religious similarities have been cited by researchers.
Last bu not the least, the racial mixture of Aryans and Dravidians can be traced all over the south, more marked as one goes northward, where the Aryan influence was predominant.
Hope it helps.
