given:- x = cos(π/8)t
put t = 2 , x = cos (π/8)2
=>x = cos(π/4) = 1/✓2
hence, it's displacement after 2 seconds is 1/✓2

x = 0.7071 units


◆ Explanation-

We have eqn for displacement of mass-

x = cos(πt/8)


For t = 2 s,

x = cos(2π/8)

x = cos(π/4)

x = 1/√2

x = 0.7071 units.


Therefore, displacement of the vibrating mass is 0.7071 units.


*Note - SI unit of length is meter and CGS unit is centimeter.
