distance  is a scalar whereas dispacement is a vector.distance is the lenght of the path traversed by an object in a given time interval and displacement is the shortest distance covered by the object in a specified direction

Displacement is the Distance with direction 

Distance--
Distance is on the other hand is the longer route than Displacement
