Distance and Speed: Find the Charging Amount of a Person Who Covering a Distance of 50 KM
The taxi charges in a city consist of a fixed charge together with the charge for the distance covered. For a distance of 20 Km, the charge paid is Rs 205 and for a distance of 25Km, the charge paid is Rs 255. Find the fixed charges and the charge per Km. How much does a person pay for covering a distance of 50 Km?

This question can be handled in two ways. I am giving one below and for the other one, please refer to the attached illustration.
The initial charge is the same for any distance. For a distance of 20 Km, the charge paid is Rs 205 and for a distance of 25Km, the charge paid is Rs 255.
This lets me know what for an additional distance of 5 km the extra charge is Rs. 50. This gives me the charge per Km = Rs. 10 (Rs.50/5km), Now we can find the fixed charge. We know the charge for 20km is Rs. 205. Dividing 205 by 20 gives us a remainder of 5. So the fixed charge will be Rs. 5.
Last question asks us to calculate the charge for 50 km.
This can be calculated easily now ---> Rs. 5 + (10 x 50) = Rs. 505.
