DUE TO RESONANCE PHENOL IS MORE ACIDIC THEN DIETHYLETHER, phenol pka value is less than diehyleyher, phenol is more soluble in water due to presencce of large aryl group which is hydrophobic. its melting point and boiling point is higher then diethyether due to presence of symmetry in the aryl group of phenol.phenol react with with BDC compoud to form orenge dye while diethylether can't. phenol react with bromine water to give white ppt while diethylether can't.
