Militant nationalism means that when the people of a country believe that what their country is doing is right while id someone objects they are considered anti national.Militant nationalism is a kind of obsession in a few people for their country. During British rule the British used this word for the freedom fighters who were struggling for independence.The poor Indians who exibited nationalism were considered as militants and were given severe punishments.Finally we got independence in 15 th August 1947.

When a certain idea of nationalism is incompatible with all the other or certain other ideas of the same to an extent that the former idea entails violence to defend itself then it might be said to have entered the territory of militant nationalism.

Militant nationalism is often conservationist. It opposes change in the values associated with the instruments of nation state. (culture,education etc.) This confrontation leads to violence which if not addressed to can lead to a civil unrest.
