• The amazon basin forms part of South America and that is drained by the amazon river system and it covers an area of about 6,300,000 km square covering about 35% of the continents. The amazon river system transports about 20% of the water carried by the rivers into the pacific ocean.  

• Owning to the heavy rainfall and humid climates the planets and the animal life is diverse and has a thick and dense type of evergreen forests and is home to the shady dark and damp vegetation. Species like the brazil nut and rubber trees and palm oil.

• Animal life is of 1,400 species with a special type of rats and rodent and the jaguar puma and has 1,500 of amphibians with about 2,500 species of fish. The Ganges' basin is part of the indo Brahmaputra system and it drains into the 1,086,000 km square areas and is bordered by the Indus and aravallis.  

• The basin is fertile most suited for the growth of the agricultural crops and has various plateau, hills and soil combinations of sand, silt, loam, and clay. The drainage system includes the Kosi, the Ghagra, the Ganda, betwa, son and Chamba in the north.
