Difference between axis and orbit:

  • Axis is defined to be an imaginary line that remains constant in the rotating body, and the rotating body actually rotates keeping that axis constant.
  • Whereas, orbit is defined as an imaginary line or path on which somebody revolves in some circular or elliptical path keeping somebody in either of its foci.
  • Axis is meant to be a straight line, but orbit can’t be a straight line.
  • Axis cannot change for a body, as it passes through its center, but orbit can change.
