we should react Ethane and ethyne with hydrogen in the presence of catalyst
in ethane case it does not react with hydrogen
in ethyne case it react and form saturated hydro carbon
1 acetic acid (ch3cooh)
2 ch3cooh
3 ester ch3cooc2h5

Hey dear,
● Chemical test to distinguish ethane & ethyne -
Ethane is a saturated compound and don't undergo halogenation reaction, while ethyne being unsaturated compound undergo halogenation reactions.
CH3-CH3 + Br2 --> NO REACTION
CH≡CH + 2Br2 --> CH(Br)2-CH(Br)2
● Solving reactions -
1) Compound A => Formic acid
HCOOH + NaOH --> HCOONa + H2O
2) Compound B => Propionic acid
2CH3CH2COOH + MgCO3 --> (CH3CH2COO)2Mg + H2O + CO2
3) Compound C => Propanol
CH3CH3CH2OH + 2[O] --> CH3CH2COOH + H2O
Hope this was helpful..
