Hard water

The water contains high amount of calcium ions and magnesium ions. Health benefits due to mineral content. It is formed due to dissolution of calcium and magnesium ions from natural sources such as limestone.

Soft water

Soft water is treated water which does not contain a high level of minerals. It is not suitable for drinking. It is produced via ion exchanging using sodium resins.

ii)Temporary Hardness.

Temporary Hardness is due to presence of bi-carbonates of calcium & magnesium. It can be removed by boiling. Hardness removal is cheap.

Permanent Hardness.

It is due to presence of chlorides \& sulfates of calcium \& Magnesium. It can't be removed by boiling. Hardness removal is expensive.
