Inland transport is world`s cheapest, reliable and less polluting mode of transport. Through the ages rivers have served as an effective waterways, carrying people and goods over long distances. Water transport can be divided into two categories
- Inland transport
- Ocean transport
The following are the differences between the above two water transport
- Inland transport is carried out through navigable canals and rivers which is suited for transporting goods from one place to another within the the landmass whereas Ocean transport is carried out from one landmass to another through seas and is widely used for undertaking import and export activities.
- Inland transport is carried out through boats and steamers whereas Ocean transport is carried out through liners, cargo ships and tankers.
