Difference Between Kinetic Energy and Potential Energy. Energy implies as the object's capability to perform work. ... While kinetic energy is the energy which an object contains because of a particular motion. On the other hand, potential energy is the stored energy, because of its state of rest.

Answer:

The basic point of difference are-

1) Kinetic energy is the energy which an object contains because of a particular motion. Whereas potential energy is the stored energy because of its state of rest.

2) Kinetic energy can be transferred between objects whereas potential energy not.

3) Kinetic energy is relative to the environment of the object whereas potential energy is non- relative to the environment of the object.

4) Kinetic energy=1/2*mv^2, Potential energy =mgh

(here m is mass of object, v is velocity of object, h is height and g is acceleration due to gravity)
