pulse rate is number of times per minute that the heart contracts - the number of heart beats per minute (bpm)
pulse is the throbbing of arteries resulting from heartbeat.

In general terms, "Pulse rate" can be defined as the number of heartbeats per minute.

  • Pulse is the strongest in the arteries which are closest to the heart.

  • Pulse can be detected in superficial arteries like the "Radial artery of the wrist" and the "Temporal artery".

  • The pulse rate of an average adult human being varies within the range of 70 to 90 beats per minute.

  • Pulse is the same as the heart rate.

  • "Tachycardia" is a term which is applied to a rapid heart/pulse rate (Over 100 beats per minute).
