A score of 68 (Q1) represents the first quartile and is the 25th percentile. 68 is the median of the lower half of the score set in the available data i.e. the median of the scores from 59 to 75. ... The interquartile range is simply calculated as the difference between the first and third quartile

Explanation:

Quartile - A quartile is a quantile form. The first quartile is defined as the mid-number between the lowest number and the data set median. The second quartile is the data's mean and the hird quartile is the average value of the data set between the median and the peak value.

Percentile - A percentile is a metric used to show the value below which a number of observations drops in a category of observations.

Thus, the difference between both is -

There are 99 percentiles separating each data set or distribution into 100 equal parts. These are called as P1, P2, -- P99. Therefore, 1% of observations, 2% of observations, .... 99% of observations are less than or equal to, P1, P2, ... P99, whereas the Q1, Q2, Q3 quartiles are three points dividing the distribution into four equal parts. Thus 25% of the observations, 50% and 75% are less than or equal to Q1, Q2 and Q3 respectively.
