(i) Shifting Cultivation: In this type of cultivation, a small patch of land is cleared by felling the trees and burning them. The ashes then mix with the soil and seeds are broadcasted. A few years later the patch of land is left fallow and farmer moves for the new field.
Mainly practised in Amazon basin, tropical land of Africa, Southeast Asia and northeast India
(ii) Nomadic Herding: - In this type of farming cattle, sheep, goat and camel are reared. Herd men move from place to place with their animals in search of new pastures. Nomadic herding is practised in arid and semi-arid regions of Sahara, central Asia and some parts of India (Jammu & Kashmir).
