the difference between them are

Sigma bond : it is a type of covalent bond which is formed by end to end overlap of bonding orbitals along the inter nuclear axis. It is of three types:
1. s-s overlap
2. s-p overlap
3. p-p overlap
Pi bond: it is a type of covalent bond which is formed by overlap of bonding orbitals in such a way that their axes remain parallel to the each other and perpendicular to the inter nuclear axis. The orbitals are formed by sideways overlapping.
