Phan Boi Chau-.
He was a pioneer of Vietnamese 20th century nationalism. He wanted to liberate Vietnam from French with the help of the monarchy as he was of the opinion that the monarchy was still highly respected by wealthy landowners. He wanted first the foreign enemy should be driven out, and after nation's independence was restrored 1 could talk about other things.
Phan Chu Trinh-
He sought to end France's brutal occupation of Vietnam. His ideas differed from Phan Boi Chau. He was intensly hostile to the monarchy and opposed to the idea of resisting the French with the help of the court. He was in favour of establishing a democratic republic. He was influenced by democratic ideas of west and didn't want wholesale rejection of Western culture.
