Answer:

The main difference between petals and petaloid is that petals are the true corolla of a flower whereas petaloid is the condition of having modified sepals resembling petals.

Answer:

Petal is part of the corolla or the second whorl of the flower. They are large, brightly colored and scented to attract insects.

Petaloid sepal is part of the first whorl of the flower, usually serving to protect the flower in its bud stage or support for the petals once they have bloomed.

Usually, if there are petaloid sepals in a flower, then the petals and petaloid sepals are taken as an undifferentiated perianth. But, they are still in different whorls of the flower.
