An Inter School Folk Dance Competition was organised on Saturday. Several schools including Fylfort Public School, Doon International School, Siddhartha Public School, Saint Kabeer Academy, Pestle Weed School and Delhi Public School, Dehradun had participated.


The stage came alive when the students of different schools staged spectacular dances in the competition. The dance troupes from various schools mesmerised the audience with their performances based on the theme folk dances of India. The attractive costumes, fluid dance movements, and fascinating props made it tough for the judges to decide the winner.


The judges for the day were Ila Pant Yadav, (a Kathak artist) and Menaka Bahl who is working with a channel. After the performances, the principal, BK Singh said that dancing is the most beautiful arts because it is not mere translation or abstraction from life, it is life itself.


The director, Vatsala Singh shared, 'I see dance being used as communication between body and soul, to express what is too deep for words.' The programme concluded with the vote of thanks followed by national anthem. The first position was bagged by DPS, Dehradun. Fylfort Public School won the first position and the second position was bagged by Doon International School while the third position was won by Siddhartha Public School.
