Answer:

Ratio is  comparison of two  quantities

 let us consider the ratio of a number ' a'   to another number ' b ' as a fraction a/b  ( where b ≠ 0) and it is written a : b ,

here the first term a is called antecedent and the second term is called consequent.

according to question we need to divide 120 in the ratio 3 : 5

finding the sum of ratios,

3x + 5x = 120

8x = 120

x = 15

substituting value of x for 3x we get,

3x = 3 (15 )

   = 45

similarly for 5x we get,

5x = 5 (15)

    = 75

hence 120 can divide in the ratio 3 : 5 as 45 and 75.

Here, we have to divide 120 in the ratio 3:5,

Let, the two ratio be 3x and 5x,

Therefore,

=>3x+5x=120

By adding both like term,

=>8x=120

=>x=\frac{120}{8}

=>x=15

The two ratios are 3x and 5x,

=>3x=3(15)=45\\=>5x=5(15)=75

Hence, the ratios are 45 and 75.
