Divide 1400 into three part such that the 1st part is 2/3 of 2nd part and the ratio between the 2nd and 3rd part is 4:5 . Find each part​

Given: 1400 is divided into three parts.

1st part is 2/3

2nd part and the ratio between the 2nd and 3rd part is 4:5

We need to find each part

Solution

Let the common multiples of these ratios be = x

The ratio of 2nd &3rd part=4:5

There fore

2nd part=4x

3rd part=5x

From the given condition

1st part is 2/3

So 1st part=2/3×4x=8x/3

From 2nd condition

1st+2nd+3rd=1400

8x/3+4x+5x=1400

On solving the above equation we get

8x + 12x +15x = 4200

35x= 4200

x=120

1st part=8x/3= 320

2nd part== 480

3rd part=5x= 600

So the different parts are 320, 480 and 600

The ratio of 1st ,2nd& 3rd part=8:12:15

so, 8x+12x+15x=35x=1400

x=40

1st part=320

2nd part=480

3rd part=600
