Divide 36 into two parts in such a way that 1/5 of one part is equal to1/7 of the other.

Let one part be x and the other be ( 36 - x )

1/5 x = 1/7 ( 36 - x)
x/5 = 36/7 - x/7
x/5 + x/7 = 36/7
12x/35 = 36/7
x = 15

Thus , the two parts are 15 and 21
