divide 4500 into two parts such that 5% of the first part is equal to 10% of the second part by linear equation

let x and y be two divided parts of 4500, then ;
x+y = 4500
x = 4500-y

(5/100)x = (10/100)y
x/20 = y/10
10x = 20y
x = 2y

comparing both equation we get ;
2y = 4500-y
3y = 4500
y = 1500

x = 2×1500
= 3000
hence the 4500 is been divided into two parts of 1500 & 3000.
