Question -:

Divide 84 chocolates between 2 children in the ratio 7 : 5.

_______________________________________

Answer -:

Number of chocolates = 84.

Number of children = 2.

Ratio = 7 : 5.

Sum of the terms = 7 + 5 = 12.

So,

Share of the 1st child =  \frac{7}{12}  \times 84 = 49 \: chocolates.

Share of the 2nd child =  \frac{5}{12}  \times 84 = 35 \: chocolates.

Thus, the 1st child got 49 chocolates and the 2nd child got 35 chocolates.

Verification -:

Just add up these numbers and see if you get 84.

49 + 35 = 84

Since 49 + 35 = 84,

Hence verified.

Hope it helps! :)
