Let the first part be x
Then the second part be 12000 - x

SI
When
P = x
R = 6% P.A.
T = 2 years
SI = PRT/100
= x . 6 . 2 / 100
= 12 x / 100 ________________________(1)
___________________________________________________________
SI when
P = (12000- x )
R = 8% P.A.
T = 3 years
SI = (12000 - x) . 8 . 3 / 100
= 28800 - 24 x / 100 _____________________(2)
___________________________________________________________
By (1) and (2) we get
12 x / 100 = 28800 - 24 x / 100
12 x = 28800 - 24 x
x = 24000 - 2x
3x = 24000
x = 8000
___________________________________________________________
First part = 8000
Second part = 12000 - x = 12000 - 8000 = 4000
___________________________________________________________
Then the second part be 12000 - x
