you just set the division normally and you get a straight result.

xˆ3 + 3 xˆ2 - x - 3 | x + 3

first quotient part is xˆ2 giving xˆ3 + 3ˆx that you substract to left side leaving

- ( x + 3) | x +3

then it’'s direct, you have second quotient part as - 1 that you substract leaving zero.

The result is therefore ( xˆ2 - 1 ) .
