Let the smaller part be x

So given larger part exceeds the smaller one by 12

So larger part = x + 12

Also, since they are divided into parts of 72, their sum will be equal to 72

Hence, x + x + 12 = 72

=> 2x + 12 = 72

=> 2x = 72 - 12

=> 2x = 60

=> x = 60/2

=> x = 30

So first part is 30

Second part is x + 12

=> 30 + 12 = 42

So the numbers are 30 and 42

Hope it helps dear friend ☺️✌️✌️

Let one( smaller ) part be x and other part should be 12 more than x i.e. ( x + 12 )

total sum = sum of smaller and larger parts

72 = x + ( x + 12 )

72 = x + x + 12

72 - 12 = 2x

60 = 2x

60 / 2 = x

30 = x

Hence, Parts are x = 30 and ( x + 12 ) = ( 30 + 12 ) = 42
