Within a cell, different organelles perform different functions. Eg: mitochondria generates energy, lysosomes for destruction of foreign material and ribosome for synthesis of protein, etc.

The various organelles in the cell perform different functions.

For example: Endoplasmic reticulum transports nutrients, plastids are involved in preparation of food, whereas mitochondria provide energy to the cell.

Thus, there is division of labour at intracellular level also.
